Sink In Sitting Furniture

Sink In Sitting Furniture

Sink in Sitting furniture is an innovative and adaptable seating solution that exemplifies the convergence of functional design and sculptural aesthetics, created by Israeli designer Keren Shiker. This versatile furniture piece, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a significant advancement in adjustable seating design through its unique construction comprising two wooden birch frames filled with 204 moveable sponge units, each measuring 70 centimeters in length and 5 centimeters in width. The distinctive feature of this design lies in its ability to transform and adapt to various user requirements, as the sponge units can be manipulated to create different seating configurations, effectively accommodating users of different sizes and comfort preferences. The furniture piece, measuring 100 by 70 centimeters, demonstrates exceptional versatility in its ability to be positioned either vertically or horizontally, serving both as a functional seating element and as a decorative sculptural installation when unoccupied. The design successfully addresses the challenge of creating seating furniture that combines comfort with aesthetic appeal, utilizing materials that provide both the necessary structural integrity to support body weight and the flexibility required for customization. This harmonious blend of form and function, coupled with its clean modern lines and elegant appearance, makes it suitable for diverse user groups including adults, youth, and children, while simultaneously contributing to interior spaces as a distinctive design element.
