Single Rocket Side Table
Single Rocket Side Table is an innovative furniture design that masterfully combines nostalgia and functionality, created by designer Stelios Mousarris. This distinctive piece transforms childhood memories of toys and cartoons into a sophisticated furniture element, featuring a playful rocket motif emerging from stylized clouds. The table's construction demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its integration of multiple manufacturing techniques, including lathe work, 3D printing, resin casting, and traditional hand-carving methods. Crafted from solid compact sculpted oak wood, high-quality resin, steel, and topped with glass, the table measures 50 centimeters in diameter and stands 45 centimeters high, weighing 10 kilograms. The design's aesthetic appeal lies in its ability to evoke emotional connections through its whimsical interpretation of childhood memories, while maintaining practical functionality as a side table. The piece represents a significant achievement in contemporary furniture design, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to material use, aesthetic appeal, and creative conceptualization. The table's design philosophy centers on bridging the gap between practical furniture and emotional resonance, creating a conversation piece that appeals to both children and adults who appreciate playful, yet sophisticated design elements. Its construction showcases the versatility of combining traditional woodworking techniques with modern manufacturing processes, resulting in a unique piece that exemplifies the evolution of contemporary furniture design.
