Silky Bracelet is an innovative piece of jewelry design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of mathematical precision and artistic elegance. Created by jewelry designer Jingcheng Wu, this sophisticated accessory represents a masterful exploration of the simultaneity between simplicity and complexity in design. The bracelet features meticulously crafted 18K gold lines precisely cut using CNC machinery, assembled with a distinctive rotatable component that enables fluid movement while maintaining structural integrity. Each bar measures 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 18mm, with a total length of 16cm, incorporating an ingenious hidden clasp system that measures just 1.5mm in size, featuring an internal string mechanism and secure locking system that prioritizes both ease of use and safety. The surface treatment showcases exceptional craftsmanship through traditional Florentine engraving techniques, with every millimeter containing twelve precisely hand-engraved straight lines that create a unique silky texture. This meticulous attention to detail extends to the innovative movement mechanism and clasp design, which required extensive research across various disciplines including architecture, watchmaking, and industrial design. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, demonstrates remarkable technical achievement in concealing all mechanical components within the structure while maintaining both aesthetic minimalism and functional durability. The project, completed between March 2020 and May 2021 in Shenzhen, China, represents a significant advancement in jewelry design, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary engineering solutions.
