SHUIYUNJIAN Tea House is an architecturally significant tea house located in Urumqi city, Sinkiang province, China, exemplifying a harmonious blend of traditional Chinese tea culture with contemporary spatial design. Encompassing 460 square meters, this sophisticated establishment was meticulously designed by JIANG GUO XING to create a sanctuary of tranquility within the urban landscape. The design philosophy draws profound inspiration from classical Chinese architectural elements, particularly referencing the historical Yuen Yan hole and incorporating elements reminiscent of Ming-style architecture, notably through its distinctive eight-angle door design that symbolizes humility. The material palette demonstrates exceptional refinement, featuring black granite, volcanic stone, algae clay, cobble, and beige-cream travertine, creating a rich textural interplay that enhances the sensory experience. The spatial composition reflects the metaphorical journey of tea appreciation, where each course represents different aspects of life - from initial bitterness to love, and finally to ethereal lightness. This philosophical approach to design earned the project a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to contemporary interior architecture.
