Shiyi Office

Shiyi Office is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of primitive textures within a minimalist spatial framework, completed in Wenzhou, China in 2021. The design, conceived by Yannan Zhang and Xiahong Yan, transforms a 5.38-meter-high space into a two-floor office environment that masterfully balances functionality with artistic expression. At its conceptual core, the design employs natural rocks as both spiritual and physical anchors, creating multiple temporal states within a single space. The project's distinctive Y-shaped staircase, designed to circumvent structural challenges, demonstrates exceptional problem-solving through architectural innovation. The interior features interspersed blocks that contour the office outline, with layered elements highlighting the contrasts between surfaces. The material palette combines stone, wood, and metal to achieve a delicate balance between openness and rigidity, while suspended elements, including a tea room supported by ceiling-mounted steel frames, showcase technical ingenuity. The design's sophisticated approach to spatial division maintains comfortable ceiling heights across both levels while incorporating suspended stones in the foyer area. This project, which won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in contemporary office design, particularly in its ability to inspire creativity through spatial experience and emotional resonance.
