Shimu Interior Space
Shimu Interior Space is an exemplary residential interior design project completed in 2019, situated along the shores of Jinji Lake in Suzhou, China, encompassing a sophisticated 470-square-meter penthouse that masterfully integrates contemporary design principles with natural elements. This award-winning project, conceived and executed under the creative direction of Jin Wang, demonstrates an exceptional approach to modern living spaces through its minimalist aesthetic and innovative use of materials. The design philosophy centers on the concept of less is more, employing unified materials throughout the space to achieve visual simplification while maintaining functional sophistication. A defining feature of the project is its impressive 6.6 x 2.5-meter glass installation, which presented significant technical challenges during implementation but successfully creates an unobstructed panoramic view of the lake. The interior architecture incorporates several distinctive elements, including an elegant screen window system that facilitates natural light penetration, a minimalist fireplace that anchors the space, and an open-plan layout that seamlessly connects the living room, dining area, and Western-style kitchen. The project's commitment to design excellence was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to contemporary residential design. The space exemplifies a harmonious blend of refinement, modernity, and artistic expression, while effectively addressing practical challenges such as structural modifications and regulatory compliance, ultimately delivering a new paradigm for luxury urban living that emphasizes the integration of natural elements with architectural innovation.
