Shiding Tea Ceremony Classroom is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes the traditional concept of tea ceremony spaces through its harmonious integration of indoor and outdoor environments. Located in a mountainside campus setting, this architectural masterpiece employs large windows and wooden platforms to create a seamless connection between natural surroundings and interior spaces, effectively eliminating conventional barriers while preserving the cultural significance of tea ceremonies. The space, measuring 18,370mm in width, 9,280mm in depth, and 4,430mm in height, masterfully combines Japanese aesthetic principles with Taiwanese tea culture, featuring bamboo ceiling materials and carefully selected wooden elements that create a warm, inviting atmosphere despite challenging environmental conditions. This Gold A' Design Award-winning project, completed in 2019, addresses practical challenges such as humidity and structural integrity while maintaining its core philosophical purpose of fostering human connection and cultural preservation. The design's innovative approach transforms the traditional classroom setting into an experiential space where participants can fully immerse themselves in the tranquility of tea culture, emphasizing the harmony between nature and human interaction. The project successfully preserves historical elements, such as an original tea stove and chimney, while incorporating modern design solutions to create a space that serves both educational and cultural purposes, reflecting the deep-rooted tea-serving traditions of Taiwan while adapting to contemporary needs and safety requirements.
