Shenzhen Oct Bay Store

Shenzhen Oct Bay Store is an innovative interior design project that redefines the traditional tea drinking experience through a sophisticated blend of contemporary aesthetics and cultural sensibility. Located in Shenzhen, China, this 105-square-meter commercial space, completed in June 2022, represents a significant departure from conventional modern tea establishments through its thoughtful spatial organization and material selection. Designed by Denver Hsu, the space is characterized by its serene atmosphere achieved through the harmonious integration of light yellow stone, dark wood grain elements, and retro log furniture. The interior is strategically divided into four distinct zones: dining space, kitchen, electric room, and an open kitchen with a connecting hallway, each area carefully crafted to enhance the overall user experience. The design's material palette showcases a deliberate contrast between indoor and outdoor spaces, with solid wood furniture dominating the interior to create warmth and simplicity, while bluestone-cut furniture elements are thoughtfully scattered throughout the exterior areas. The project's architectural language is enriched by protruding layer board structures in marble stone, which add textural depth and elegant complexity to the space. The color scheme, predominantly featuring light coffee, beige, and dark gray tones, creates a gentle, nostalgic ambiance that resonates with the project's conceptual narrative. This exceptional design achievement was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design, material selection, and cultural integration. The project stands as a testament to contemporary commercial interior design that successfully balances functionality with aesthetic refinement, creating an environment that transcends the typical commercial space to offer a deeply contemplative and sensory experience.
