Shenzhen HuaChong Center Salon
Shenzhen HuaChong Center Salon is an innovative interior design project that reimagines public cultural space through the lens of ancient Greek theater architecture, situated in the Futian District of Shenzhen city. This sophisticated 125-square-meter salon, completed in December 2019, represents a significant advancement in contemporary spatial design, featuring two distinctive semicircular bars crafted from natural marble and limestone that create an acoustically dynamic environment. The design, conceived by Xiaohua Peng, deliberately breaks away from conventional meeting room configurations to establish a fluid, multifunctional space that encourages free expression and diverse interactions. The interior architecture employs curved wall productions utilizing Bulgarian limestone and artificial stone, complemented by water-based and colored ground paint applications that enhance the space's aesthetic appeal. The salon's design philosophy emphasizes the harmonious integration of form and function, incorporating elements that facilitate various activities from design lectures to art exhibitions while maintaining a strong connection to cultural discourse. This versatile venue exemplifies innovative space optimization through its carefully considered layout, which enables both formal and informal gathering configurations, allowing visitors to either sit conventionally or on the floor, fostering an environment conducive to meaningful dialogue about design, architecture, and cultural matters. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in spatial design through its unique interpretation of classical architectural elements within a contemporary context, successfully creating a dynamic platform for cultural exchange and creative discourse.
