Shared P Parking Space
Shared P Parking Space is an innovative urban infrastructure solution designed to optimize parking space utilization through the sharing economy paradigm, developed by a team of designers at the Industrial Design College - LAFA. This sophisticated system enables private parking space owners to monetize their unused parking spots by making them available to other drivers during periods of vacancy. The physical infrastructure consists of a smart parking barrier measuring 350mm in width, 520mm in depth, and 500mm in height, crafted using advanced alloy molding technology. The system operates through a dedicated mobile application that facilitates real-time communication between parking space owners and potential users, allowing owners to set their spaces to an 'In Service' state when available. This intelligent solution addresses the critical challenge of limited parking availability in urban centers while promoting efficient space utilization and generating additional income for parking space owners. The system incorporates several technological innovations, including QR code scanning for access, automated billing based on usage duration, and integration with personal credit records to ensure user accountability. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Meta, Strategic and Service Design category, represents a significant advancement in urban space management by combining physical infrastructure with digital technology. The project, completed in 2018, demonstrates how sharing economy principles can be effectively applied to solve contemporary urban challenges, while its implementation of smart technology and user-friendly interface makes it particularly relevant in modern city environments.
