Sense Urban Sensor

Sense Urban Sensor

Sense Urban Sensor is an innovative urban security and surveillance system that represents a significant advancement in smart city technology, combining sophisticated artificial intelligence capabilities with thoughtful industrial design. This groundbreaking device, designed by Roberto Maurizio Paura, revolutionizes traditional urban surveillance through its distinctive approach to both functionality and aesthetics. The system features advanced threat detection capabilities, including fire and smoke detection, abandoned object identification, facial recognition, and vehicle plate recognition, all integrated within a sleek, approachable form factor that measures 250mm in width, 93mm in depth, and 120mm in height. Constructed from 2.5mm polycarbonate, the device incorporates a passive heatsink system protected from environmental elements and utilizes parametric 3D modeling in its development, with production achieved through Selective Laser Sintering technique and subsequent injection molding processes. The design's unique rear connector system enables three-axis positioning flexibility, facilitating optimal placement in various urban environments such as shopping centers, harbors, airports, and train stations. Its friendly and linear aesthetic represents a deliberate departure from conventional bulky surveillance equipment, aiming to integrate seamlessly with urban architecture while remaining visible as a reassuring presence for citizens. The system's sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms enable real-time monitoring and analysis of crowded areas, providing enhanced public safety without compromising on visual appeal. This innovative approach to urban security technology earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Security, Safety and Surveillance Products Design category, acknowledging its contribution to advancing smart city infrastructure and public safety solutions.
