Sense And Sensibility Residence

Sense And Sensibility Residence

Sense and Sensibility Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in Taiwan in 2020, exemplifying a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality within a 149-square-meter space. The design, conceived by Yu-Lin Shih and Ling-Chun Tseng, masterfully integrates contrasting elements through a sophisticated color palette dominated by Nile blue, pure white, and earth tones, creating distinct spatial transitions while maintaining visual cohesion. The interior's composition is characterized by its thoughtful interplay of light and shadow, achieved through strategic placement of black hollowing-out partitions and floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural illumination to interact with various surface materials, including neat tiles and soft wooden flooring. A notable feature of the design is its musical influence, particularly evident in the way the piano keys' black and white contrast is reflected throughout the interior elements, creating a visual rhythm that enhances the space's artistic appeal. The residence demonstrates exceptional attention to spatial organization, employing minimalist principles while maintaining luxurious modern styling. This design philosophy extends to the careful selection of materials and textures that contribute to both aesthetic beauty and functional comfort. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases innovative space utilization that balances public and private areas while maintaining a sense of openness and tranquility. The design's success lies in its ability to create a contemplative environment that supports both intellectual engagement and emotional well-being, achieved through careful consideration of color psychology, spatial flow, and material selection.
