Self-stick Notes
Self-stick notes, also known as sticky notes or Post-it notes, are small pieces of paper with a re-adherable strip of adhesive on the back, allowing them to be easily attached and removed from various surfaces. These notes were invented by Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M, in the late 1960s. However, it was not until 1980 that they were introduced to the market by Art Fry, another 3M employee. Since then, self-stick notes have become a ubiquitous office and household item, used for everything from jotting down reminders to leaving messages for colleagues or family members. Self-stick notes come in a variety of sizes, colors, and shapes, with the most common being the 3-inch square. They are made from a special type of paper that is coated with a low-tack adhesive, which allows them to be easily removed without leaving any residue. The adhesive is strong enough to keep the notes in place, but not so strong that they cannot be repositioned or removed. Self-stick notes can be used on a variety of surfaces, including paper, walls, doors, and computer screens. One of the key benefits of self-stick notes is their versatility. They can be used for a wide range of purposes, from writing down phone numbers and to-do lists to marking pages in a book or highlighting important information in a document. They are also useful for brainstorming and organizing ideas, as they can be easily moved around and rearranged as needed. In conclusion, self-stick notes are a simple yet highly effective tool for communication, organization, and creativity. Their ease of use, versatility, and convenience have made them a staple in offices and households around the world.
