Secli Weinwelt, Buchs Dwelling And Office Building
Secli Weinwelt, Buchs Dwelling and Office Building is an innovative architectural masterpiece that seamlessly integrates residential and commercial spaces with wine culture, located in Buchs, Switzerland. Completed between 2013-2015, this remarkable structure features fifteen distinctive terracotta-coated volumes arranged like wine boxes, creating a symbiotic organism that rises across two floors. The building's design philosophy centers on the concept of wine culture, manifesting in its unique spatial organization and materiality. At its heart lies a wine chapel, serving as the building's core and creating an immersive experience for wine enthusiasts. The structure's interior demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, incorporating concrete elements that create a sense of gravitas, complemented by carefully designed acoustic solutions and thoughtfully placed lighting elements. The design successfully addresses urban density requirements with a utilization number of 1.0 and a minimum height of 12 meters, while creating a harmonious blend of living, working, and leisure spaces. The project, which encompasses 14,400 cubic meters in volume and 2,800 square meters of floor area, showcases innovative solutions in spatial design, particularly evident in its sales area and multifunctional event space. The building's sophisticated acoustic treatment, featuring circular elements that moderate reverberation time, and its strategic use of round glass components directing views toward the high-rise rack system, exemplify its technical excellence. This architectural achievement, designed by Carlos Martinez Architekten, was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to contemporary architectural design and its successful integration of multiple functions within a cohesive aesthetic framework.
