Sea To Sky Residential Apartment

Sea To Sky Residential Apartment

Sea to Sky Residential Apartment is an award-winning residential interior design project that masterfully transforms a 1,200-square-foot apartment space into a palatial dwelling, drawing inspiration from Haruki Murakami's poetic description of the darkening sky. This sophisticated renovation project, completed in 2019 by designer Anushrii Jaain, seamlessly integrates Indian architectural heritage with contemporary European design elements, creating a harmonious living environment that transcends its spatial limitations. The design's cornerstone is its innovative use of deep teal as the primary color palette, symbolically representing the convergence of sea and sky, while defying conventional design wisdom that suggests lighter colors for smaller spaces. The project stands out for its exceptional craftsmanship, featuring hand-carved furniture, custom-designed metal tables, and ornate lighting fixtures that showcase traditional Indian artisanal techniques. The interior space demonstrates remarkable spatial planning by breaking down compartmentalized structures to create a free-flowing environment that accommodates three generations of residents while maintaining distinct functional areas including a foyer, hallway, formal and informal living rooms, and two dining spaces. The design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding achievement in blending cultural elements, sustainable practices, and innovative space utilization. The project's success lies in its ability to incorporate multiple design themes - including Indian heritage, natural elements, palatial grandeur, and European influences - while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic that transforms an urban apartment into a breathing, living space that responds to its inhabitants' needs and cultural preferences.
