Sculpture White Residential Villa

Sculpture White Residential Villa

Sculpture White Residential villa is an innovative architectural masterpiece designed by Huang Ching-Wen that seamlessly integrates sculptural elements with residential functionality, creating a unique living space that transforms throughout the day through its interaction with light and shadow. Located in Miaoli, Taiwan, this distinctive corner property, completed in February 2016, exemplifies the harmonious fusion of artistic expression and practical living space through its carefully calculated design elements. The exterior features precisely positioned granite slabs of varying thicknesses that correspond to window dimensions, creating a dynamic interplay between solid and void. The building's exterior composition employs three primary materials: granite, German paint, and metal pieces, with innovative engineering solutions including one-centimeter-thick metal plates installed under drip lines to maintain the pristine white exterior. The architectural design demonstrates exceptional attention to spatial aesthetics and environmental considerations, incorporating heat dissipation through small gaps between granite slabs and outer walls. The interior layout strategically positions essential spaces along the east side, allowing the west side to showcase the building's layered architecture and featuring a relaxing balcony area. A thoughtfully placed straight staircase and small courtyard facilitate natural light penetration, while a custom metal sculpture on the white wall creates ever-changing shadow patterns throughout the day. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category represents a significant achievement in residential architecture, successfully combining sculptural aesthetics with practical living solutions while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and user comfort.
