Screw-tapping Gauges
Screw-tapping gauges, also known as screw thread gauges or thread pitch gauges, are precision measuring tools used to determine the pitch or lead of a screw thread. Screw threads are commonly found in fasteners such as bolts, nuts, and screws, and are critical components in many mechanical systems. The pitch of a screw thread is the distance between adjacent threads, while the lead is the distance traveled by the screw in one complete revolution. Screw-tapping gauges are typically made of hardened steel and consist of a series of blades or wires with teeth of various sizes and shapes. These blades or wires are designed to match the threads of a specific screw or bolt, and can be used to determine the pitch or lead of the thread by comparing the teeth of the gauge to the threads of the screw. The gauge is placed over the screw thread, and the teeth are aligned with the threads. If the teeth match the threads, the pitch or lead of the screw can be determined. Screw-tapping gauges are commonly used in manufacturing, repair, and maintenance applications, where accurate measurement of screw threads is critical. They are also used in the automotive and aerospace industries, where high precision is required. Screw-tapping gauges are available in a variety of sizes and shapes, and can be customized to meet specific requirements.
