Screensaver
A screensaver is a computer program that is designed to activate when a computer has been inactive for a certain period of time. The purpose of a screensaver is to prevent the computer's monitor from experiencing image burn-in, which can occur if a static image is displayed for an extended period of time. Screensavers typically display moving images or animations, which help to prevent burn-in by constantly changing the image on the screen. The first screensavers were developed in the 1980s, when computer monitors were more susceptible to burn-in than they are today. At that time, screensavers were simple programs that displayed scrolling text or bouncing images. As computer technology advanced, screensavers became more sophisticated, with the ability to display 3D graphics, video, and interactive animations. Today, screensavers are not as necessary as they once were, as modern computer monitors are less prone to burn-in. However, screensavers remain a popular feature in many operating systems and are often used for their aesthetic appeal or to display information such as the time or weather.
