Scholars Xuntang Hotel

Scholars Xuntang Hotel

Scholars Xuntang Hotel is a distinguished architectural renovation project completed in 2022, encompassing 5400 square meters of thoughtfully transformed space that harmoniously blends historical preservation with contemporary design elements. Located in Wuxi, this masterful interior design project, led by Miaoyi Jiang and team, exemplifies a sophisticated approach to cultural heritage preservation while introducing modern amenities and comfort. The design philosophy centers on maintaining the authentic structural elements of the century-old building while implementing minimalist modern interventions that respect and enhance its historical significance. The project's material palette includes carefully selected wood finishes, stone, gold brick, glass, and traditional elements such as malacia rattan, silk, and linen, reflecting the region's rich textile heritage. Notable for its innovative approach to structural reinforcement and spatial planning, the design successfully preserves the building's historical integrity while ensuring modern safety standards. The interior spaces feature a harmonious integration of natural elements, creating unique connections between the built environment and nature, while rare cultural heritage artifacts serve as integral display elements throughout the property. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in balancing historical preservation with contemporary functionality. The design's emphasis on white walls and black tiles pays homage to traditional Chinese architecture while incorporating modern amenities, creating an environment that bridges past and present through thoughtful design interventions.
