Scentbon Perfume Retail Store is an innovative retail space located in one of Taipei's historic business districts, exemplifying a harmonious fusion of modern design aesthetics with architectural heritage. This sophisticated fragrance retail environment, designed by Tai Chen and completed in 2022, represents a paradigm shift in luxury retail experiences through its thoughtful integration of contemporary elements with historical architecture. The store's distinctive facade features an iron and wood entrance that creates a seamless transition between the modern interior and the traditional streetscape, while its carefully positioned shop windows maximize natural light penetration. The design concept draws inspiration from the natural rhythm of breathing, manifested through two main display walls that showcase over 240 fragrances on transparent shelves positioned against original brick walls, creating a visual metaphor for inhalation and exhalation. The innovative shelving system, measuring 6000mm in width, 500mm in depth, and 2000mm in height, incorporates stainless steel construction with see-through elements, allowing for flexible product placement while maintaining visual connection with the building's historical elements. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category revolutionizes the traditional perfume shopping experience in Taiwan by providing customers with greater accessibility and autonomy in product exploration, departing from the conventional staff-mediated approach common in luxury retail. The store's design elements, including mirrored stainless steel handles and signage, create dynamic interactions with natural light and reflect the Frangipani tree in the front garden, adding layers of visual interest and connecting the interior experience with the exterior environment.
