Scent Essential Oil Packaging is an innovative fragrance product packaging design that transforms Taiwan's cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and architectural elements into an immersive olfactory experience. Developed by designers Jia-Rong Chang and Shu-Shan Tsai, this sophisticated packaging system consists of a carefully engineered combination of a gypsum diffuser stone (70x70x20mm), a glass essential oil bottle (25x25x64mm), and a premium presentation box (130x110x40mm) that integrates matte plastic, hardcover carton, sponge, and art paper elements. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, represents a significant departure from conventional souvenir design by emphasizing sensory engagement through the integration of visual and olfactory elements. The packaging's functionality centers around a unique interaction where essential oils are applied to the diffuser stone, creating a visual pattern while simultaneously releasing fragrances that evoke specific locations and experiences within Taiwan. This innovative approach to cultural representation through scent was developed between August 2021 and April 2022, incorporating extensive research into scent chemical extraction and daily life observations. The design successfully addresses the challenge of creating distinctive souvenirs that transcend traditional commercial approaches, offering international tourists a more meaningful and memorable way to experience and share Taiwan's cultural essence through the power of smell.
