Scenography Interior Residential Loft is an innovative residential design project that masterfully integrates theatrical stage design principles into domestic architecture, created by designer Ivan Cheng and recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space Design. Located within a 110-square-meter space, this sophisticated residential concept seamlessly blends Chinese and Western design elements through the creative application of stage design techniques, featuring dramatic interplays of light and shadow alongside rich, warm color palettes. The design's distinctive approach divides the compact space into functional zones using a two-meter-wide partition, while cleverly employing mirrors to create an illusion of expanded space in the living area. The architectural composition is characterized by its unique S-shaped interlayer trim and arc patterns, which create dynamic vertical spaces reminiscent of classical church architecture. The two-level structure encompasses a thoughtfully arranged program of living room, study area, courtyard, and bedroom spaces, with each zone transitioning dramatically like rotating stage sets. The design's theatrical narrative continues to the second floor, where the bedroom space evokes nostalgic references to classic Hong Kong aesthetics, demonstrating exceptional attention to spatial composition and cultural synthesis. This innovative approach to residential design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award & Competition, showcases how theatrical design principles can be successfully adapted to create engaging and functional living spaces that balance dramatic visual impact with practical domestic comfort.
