SatitCMU Kidspace Classroom is an innovative educational space renovation project that exemplifies modern architectural design principles through its distinctive hexagonal form and child-centered learning environment. This Iron A' Design Award-winning project, designed by Pandin Ounchanum and team, transforms a 1968 conservation building into a contemporary learning space that harmoniously combines functionality with imaginative elements. The design philosophy incorporates Phenomenal Based Learning concepts, creating immersive environmental themes across different levels - the ground floor embodies a forest theme for kindergarten students, while the second floor represents the sky for primary level learners, complemented by an ocean-themed restroom. The space features carefully considered architectural elements, including custom-designed trapezoid tables that can be combined to form hexagonal arrangements, facilitating flexible group learning configurations. The 20850 x 29100 x 6000 mm facility maintains its historical hexagonal character while introducing modern amenities and learning spaces. Notable design elements include curved furniture crafted from warm wooden materials, soft cushioned play areas for safety, and an elephant-themed playground that serves as a central gathering space. The project, completed in 2020, demonstrates exceptional interior space planning through its built-in furniture solutions, imaginative play areas, and educational zones that promote environmental awareness and collaborative learning. This innovative classroom design, recognized at the A' Design Award competition in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully integrates contemporary educational requirements with architectural preservation, creating a nurturing environment that supports multiple learning methodologies and child development.
