Santina Bonini

Santina Bonini was a prolific Italian artist and sculptor who left an indelible mark on the world of abstract art. Born in Verona in 1946, Bonini was exposed to art from a young age, as her father was an avid collector. Her passion for abstract art was ignited early on, and she went on to create a diverse body of work that was both colorful and thought-provoking. Throughout her career, Bonini was known for her ability to seamlessly integrate Italian culture and imagery into her pieces, creating works that were uniquely her own. Her public installation, La Città di Bambini, commissioned by the Verona City Council, is a prime example of this, as it features a series of brightly colored, abstract sculptures that pay homage to the city's rich cultural heritage. Bonini's work was also heavily influenced by the natural world, and many of her pieces feature organic shapes and forms. Her Giochi di Luce series, for instance, is a collection of neon-inspired sculptures that seem to glow from within, evoking the beauty and mystery of the natural world. Despite struggling with a long illness, Bonini continued to create art until her death in 1998. Her legacy lives on, however, as her works continue to inspire and captivate audiences around the world.
