Sama Music Pavilion
Sama Music Pavilion is an innovative architectural structure designed to enhance and dignify street music performance, conceived by Iranian designers Sarina Jamali and Mohammad Aref Ghorbani. This sophisticated pavilion, measuring 15x15x6 meters with a total area of 225 square meters, represents a harmonious fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary architectural solutions, drawing inspiration from the traditional Iranian Sama dance costumes. The pavilion's distinctive design addresses multiple challenges faced by street musicians, incorporating advanced acoustic engineering principles to ensure optimal sound distribution while protecting musical instruments from adverse weather conditions. Its multi-layered construction consists of a metal framework filled with eco-brick material, finished with micro-cement coating both internally and externally, and features integrated solar cells that power the pavilion's electrical and lighting systems. The structure's innovative acoustic design prevents sound focal points, instead creating an immersive auditory experience for both performers and audience members. This environmentally conscious design, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, incorporates a digital dimension through its connection to a music streaming platform, allowing artists to create profiles and share their work while enabling audiences to follow their preferred musicians. The pavilion's adaptive design philosophy ensures its versatility for implementation across various urban settings, making it a significant contribution to public space activation and cultural expression. The project, initiated in 2021, demonstrates exceptional consideration for sustainability, functionality, and cultural sensitivity, while addressing practical concerns such as instrument preservation and performance space optimization.
