Safety's First Biking Helmet is an innovative interactive cycling helmet that represents a significant advancement in bicycle safety equipment design, combining traditional protective functions with smart technology features for enhanced rider security. This groundbreaking design, created by K. Hisarlı, H. Yılmazer and L. Muslular, integrates sophisticated impact detection sensors and emergency response capabilities within a conventional helmet form factor, manufactured through a double plastic injection process utilizing ABS and Polyurethane materials. The helmet's intelligent system continuously monitors for impacts and automatically initiates an emergency protocol when a significant collision is detected, featuring a distinctive red light and audible warning system to alert both the rider and nearby individuals. The device incorporates advanced GPS technology to transmit the rider's precise location to emergency services, while also offering manual emergency activation through an 8-second button press. A notable safety feature includes a 10-second delay following impact detection, during which the rider can cancel the automatic emergency signal by holding the button for 3 seconds, preventing false alarms. The helmet, measuring 250mm x 320mm x 160mm, also serves as an anti-theft device by sending notifications to the owner in case of potential bicycle theft attempts.
