S r e Smart Charging System is an innovative public charging infrastructure solution designed to provide free electrical charging services for e-bikes, electric cars, and smartphones across multiple municipalities in the Province of Treviso, Italy. This sophisticated charging system, designed by Roberto Pescarollo in collaboration with architect Daniele Guerra and industrial technical expert Nicola Rosa, represents a significant advancement in sustainable mobility infrastructure. The system features a distinctive design comprising a fiberglass vertical column and steel sheet horizontal components, engineered specifically to withstand environmental elements and potential vandalism in public spaces. Its modular architecture allows for flexible configurations, accommodating between 2 to 40 bicycles in single or double-sided arrangements, with additional capability to integrate one or two electric car charging sockets. A notable innovation is the electromagnetic locking mechanism, which provides secure storage for bicycles during charging, controlled through a dedicated mobile application. The system's integration with a remote maintenance portal and comprehensive management platform enhances its operational efficiency and user accessibility. This sustainable mobility solution, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Product Engineering and Technical Design category in 2019, demonstrates exceptional consideration for practical functionality, user experience, and environmental impact. The project's implementation has significantly contributed to promoting eco-friendly tourism and sustainable transportation in the region, particularly in areas known for their prosecco wine production and World War I historical significance.
