Ruyi Exhibition Center
Ruyi Exhibition Center is an architectural masterpiece located in the Longhu Financial Centre of Zhengzhou, China, exemplifying a harmonious blend of traditional Chinese symbolism and contemporary design aesthetics. This 1,800-square-meter structure, completed in February 2020, draws its inspiration from the traditional Chinese ceremonial scepter known as Ruyi, an auspicious object historically used by emperors as a symbol of goodwill and diplomatic relations. The building's most distinctive feature is its innovative facade, constructed using a sophisticated steel structure system and covered with precisely calculated curved white aluminum plates, creating a seamless, streamlined form that embodies modern technological advancement while preserving cultural significance. Designed by Kris Lin and Anda Yang, the structure serves as a pivotal landmark within the Zhengdong New District, connecting to the CBD through a 3.7-kilometer canal that forms a Ruyi-shaped financial headquarters area. The architectural achievement was recognized with a Platinum A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its exceptional integration of cultural elements with contemporary architectural innovation. The building's design successfully overcame significant technical challenges in achieving its curved facade through precise mathematical calculations and engineering expertise, resulting in a structure that not only serves its primary function as an exhibition center but also stands as a symbolic gateway representing the economic aspirations of the Central Plains Economic Zone.
