Rouzan Residential Building
Rouzan Residential Building is an innovative architectural project completed in 2019 in Isfahan, Iran, that masterfully bridges traditional Iranian architectural elements with contemporary design solutions. The residential structure, spanning 620 square meters on a 202-square-meter plot, represents a sophisticated interpretation of cultural heritage through modern architectural language. The building's distinctive facade features an intricate brick design utilizing indigenous materials, complemented by technologically advanced electrical rotating canopy windows that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. These unique windows, inspired by traditional Iranian house designs, can be remotely adjusted to optimize natural light and thermal comfort throughout Isfahan's varying climate conditions. The architectural composition incorporates concave sections with sharp angles that define openings, terraces, and sideways projections, creating a dynamic visual rhythm that draws the eye upward. The design philosophy centers on recreating the essence of a traditional Iranian courtyard house while meeting modern residential needs, featuring a rooftop garden with a water fountain and BBQ area that pays homage to historical architectural patterns. The interior spaces are thoughtfully crafted with continuing brick patterns and angled formats, creating a harmonious flow between exterior and interior design elements. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in addressing complex challenges including climate control, privacy considerations, and budget constraints while maintaining high aesthetic and functional standards. The building's innovative approach to climate-responsive architecture is evident in its sophisticated window system, which maximizes sunlight absorption in winter and minimizes heat gain in summer, showcasing a practical application of sustainable design principles within a culturally relevant context.
