Robert Oberheim

Robert Oberheim is considered one of the most influential German artists of the 20th century. His works often mix abstract expressionism with surrealism to create thought-provoking and stimulating artwork. He was born in 1895 and studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts and the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, where he was taught by important German Expressionist painters such as Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky. Oberheim believed in creating artwork of emotion and spiritual values, something that can be seen in his paintings such as The Sisters, The Flock and The Human Pyramid. His other works also include large-scale public works, a series inspired by Homer's Odyssey and even some sculptures. In his later years, he was awarded the Grand Federal Service Cross, the highest civilian award in Germany, for his contributions to the arts.
