Ring Spanners
Ring spanners, also known as box-end wrenches, are a type of hand tool used for tightening or loosening nuts and bolts. They are designed to fit over the head of a nut or bolt, providing a secure grip and allowing the user to apply torque to the fastener. Unlike open-ended wrenches, which have a U-shaped opening, ring spanners have a closed loop at one or both ends, which completely surrounds the fastener. Ring spanners are available in a range of sizes to fit different nuts and bolts. The size of a ring spanner is determined by the diameter of the loop at the end of the tool. The most common sizes range from 6mm to 32mm, although larger sizes are also available for heavy-duty applications. Ring spanners are typically made from chrome vanadium steel or other high-strength alloys, which provide durability and resistance to wear and tear. One of the main advantages of ring spanners is their ability to provide a secure grip on fasteners, which reduces the risk of rounding or stripping the heads of nuts and bolts. Additionally, the closed loop design of ring spanners allows for greater torque to be applied to fasteners, making them ideal for use in applications where high levels of force are required. Despite their advantages, ring spanners are not suitable for all applications. Their closed loop design means that they cannot be used in tight spaces or on fasteners that are difficult to access. In these situations, open-ended wrenches or other types of hand tools may be more appropriate.
