RG House Single Family Residence
RG House Single Family Residence is an innovative architectural masterpiece located in Teresina, Brazil, that exemplifies contemporary residential design through its dynamic geometric composition and environmental consciousness. Designed by architect Flavio Melo Franco, this 310-square-meter dwelling stands as a testament to the harmonious integration of aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency, particularly in response to the region's challenging climate characterized by extreme temperatures. The structure's most distinctive feature is its elaborate aluminum brise soleil system, finished in black, which creates a striking facade while serving the crucial purpose of solar protection. The residence spans two floors, with the ground level accommodating a garage, integrated living and dining areas, a gourmet space with swimming pool, kitchen, guest bedroom, and service area, while the upper floor houses two suites and a master bedroom. The architectural composition employs a sophisticated material palette including ceramic bricks, concrete structure, thermo-acoustic aluminum tiles, and extensive glass panels that foster a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Measuring 11.35 x 19 x 7.5 meters, the building showcases innovative technical solutions, including self-supporting brise soleil elements that required careful engineering to eliminate the need for intermediate support pillars. The design's environmental consciousness is further demonstrated through the integration of photovoltaic panels for solar energy generation. The color scheme primarily utilizes black and grey tones, complemented by wooden flooring and strategic blue accents in the decoration. This exceptional architectural achievement was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2022, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to residential architecture through its innovative approach to climate response, aesthetic excellence, and functional design.
