Revolving Especie Armchair

Revolving Especie Armchair

Revolving Especie Armchair is a contemporary furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Brazilian modernist aesthetics with sustainable practices. Created in 2022, this innovative seating solution draws inspiration from the distinctive Brazilian design movement of the 1970s, characterized by its bold geometric forms and emphasis on solid wood construction. The chair's design philosophy centers on environmental consciousness through the thoughtful repurposing of demolition wood, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable material practices while maintaining high aesthetic standards. The piece features a sophisticated swivel mechanism, comprising a fixed steel base supporting a rotating seat, with the backrest carefully engineered to provide optimal ergonomic support through its calculated inclination angle. The construction process involves meticulous restoration of reclaimed wood through careful sanding and varnishing techniques, while the seat incorporates medium-density polyurethane upholstered in durable nautical fabric, ensuring both comfort and longevity. Measuring 70mm x 75mm x 72mm, the armchair's proportions are carefully considered to accommodate both interior and exterior settings, showcasing versatility in its application. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a significant achievement in contemporary furniture design, particularly noteworthy for its successful integration of sustainability principles with functional elegance. The chair's distinctive features include its striking volumetric composition, defined by rigid geometric lines that pay homage to Brazilian modernist furniture traditions while introducing contemporary elements through its innovative swivel mechanism and material combinations.
