Reuniting Residential Space
Reuniting Residential Space is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies sustainable living and harmonious spatial integration, completed in September 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan. This 172-square-meter residential project, designed by Yen-Jung Yu, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to eco-conscious interior architecture through its thoughtful incorporation of green decoration principles and sustainable materials. The design's core philosophy centers on creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor environments, utilizing floor-to-ceiling windows in public areas to maximize natural light penetration and visual flow. The project's distinctive features include an open island counter and spacious dining room that enhance the sense of togetherness, while a cleverly designed study room with semi-transparent sliding doors serves as a flexible transition between public and private spaces. The implementation of environmentally responsible materials, including natural stones, wood veneers, and solid woods treated with natural oils and eco-friendly paints, showcases a commitment to reducing environmental impact. The design's emphasis on sustainability extends to its use of low-formaldehyde wood sheets, eco-friendly engineered flooring, and LED lighting systems, all contributing to energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. This exceptional approach to residential design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative space utilization and environmental consciousness. The project successfully balances aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, creating a healthy living environment that promotes both physical and mental well-being through its thoughtful integration of natural elements and sustainable design principles.
