Residence With The Green View Residence
Residence With The Green View Residence is an exemplary architectural renovation project that demonstrates the harmonious integration of sustainable design principles with contemporary living spaces. Located in Taipei, Taiwan, this 148.5-square-meter residence represents a significant transformation of a 40-year-old structure into a modern, eco-conscious living environment. The design, conceived by architect Chien-Hung Lu, embraces a light industrial aesthetic while prioritizing environmental sustainability and occupant comfort. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases innovative solutions to urban living challenges through its thoughtful implementation of energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials. The renovation addressed multiple structural and environmental challenges, including worn-out wiring, leaking pipes, poor ventilation, and inadequate natural lighting. Notable features include the installation of an R32 air conditioning system for reduced carbon emissions, heat-recovery ventilation for maintaining optimal indoor air quality, and the application of diatomaceous earth coating on duplex ceilings for natural temperature and humidity regulation. The spatial reconfiguration introduces a semi-open kitchen design with an island counter that promotes improved air circulation, while the minimal 10-centimeter ceiling reduction efficiently conceals utility systems without compromising space. The design philosophy emphasizes simplicity and environmental consciousness, creating a refreshing atmosphere that demonstrates how urban residences can achieve harmony with nature while maintaining modern comfort and functionality.
