Reflection Residence

Reflection Residence is an award-winning contemporary residential interior design project located in New Taipei City, completed in February 2021, encompassing 123 square meters of thoughtfully curated living space. The design, conceived by Poyu Chen, masterfully employs a sophisticated interplay of reflective surfaces, premium materials, and strategic spatial planning to create an atmosphere of refined luxury and visual expansion. The project's distinctive approach to spatial design is characterized by its innovative use of black and white veined stone flooring, dark wooden cabinetry, and an extensive application of gray mirrors and marble surfaces that generate an intricate interplay of light and reflection throughout the space. The residence's open-plan layout, achieved through the strategic removal of kitchen partitions, promotes enhanced ventilation and spatial flow while establishing a harmonious connection between different functional areas. The design's material palette is dominated by an achromatic scheme of black, gray, and white, which serves as a refined backdrop for the interplay of various textures and surfaces. Notable features include a light grey television wall that creates a striking contrast with the dark-colored ceiling and flooring, while mirror materials applied to the ceiling create a sophisticated multilayered effect that visually extends the space. The private areas maintain design consistency with the common spaces, incorporating thoughtful lighting design and carefully selected textures to introduce warmth to the modern contemporary ambience. A significant design element is the customized closet system, which functions both as a storage solution and a display area, featuring tinted glass and metallic textures that transform it into a curated exhibition space for the owner's possessions. This innovative residential project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in contemporary interior design through its sophisticated material selection, spatial planning, and attention to both aesthetic and functional requirements.
