Reborn Wooden Vase

Reborn Wooden Vase

Reborn Wooden Vase is an innovative artistic vessel that exemplifies the intersection of sustainable design, craftsmanship, and functional art, created through the sophisticated integration of discarded wood from the furniture industry and metalworking techniques. This remarkable piece, designed by Chu Jou, Yu Hsuan, Fan Xuan, and Ching Ching, transforms waste materials into elegant containers that symbolize the cycle of life through their organic, spherical forms. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, features brass wire inlaid on three-dimensional curved wooden surfaces, following natural grain patterns and extending outward to form root-like supporting structures. The vases are crafted from teak wood and brass, incorporating glass containers for practical use with aquatic plants, and are available in four distinct seed-inspired shapes: round, gourd-shaped, eggplant-shaped, and elliptical, ranging from 15 to 30 centimeters in length. The production process involves sophisticated techniques including lathe turning, hand polishing, metal welding, inlaying, and multiple layers of protective finishing to prevent oxidation. This design represents a significant achievement in sustainable luxury, demonstrating how discarded materials can be elevated through skilled craftsmanship and innovative thinking to create objects of both aesthetic and functional value, while addressing environmental concerns through creative material reuse.
