Preaker Watch Packaging is an innovative watch packaging design series that celebrates the architectural heritage and cultural identity of Changsha, China, through a sophisticated fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design aesthetics. The packaging concept uniquely incorporates visual representations of six prominent Changsha landmarks: the Hunan Broadcasting System, Evening Enjoying Pavilion, Orange Continent Head, Pavilion of Heaven's Center, Changsha Railway Station, and Helong Stadium. Distinguished by its cultural sensitivity and artistic execution, this packaging design employs the traditional techniques of Hunan embroidery, reimagined through modern production methods utilizing cardboard with silver foil paper, matt lamination, and hot stamping. The cylindrical packaging, measuring 140mm in diameter and 55mm in height, features meticulously crafted linear patterns that pay homage to the embroidery techniques indigenous to the Hunan region. This design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, exemplifies the successful marriage of cultural preservation and modern functionality. The project, completed between October 2018 and January 2019, overcomes significant material and cost considerations while maintaining the authentic essence of traditional embroidery techniques through innovative pattern application methods. The design's significance extends beyond mere functionality, serving as a cultural ambassador that bridges traditional Chinese artistry with contemporary product presentation, offering users a tangible connection to Changsha's rich architectural and artistic heritage.
