Praxis I Chair is an innovative office seating solution designed by Nigerian-American designer Osayande Imarhiagbe, featuring a unified back and seat cushion system integrated into a rigid polyurethane frame. The chair's distinctive design emerged from a conceptual challenge to reimagine the conventional office chair, combining economic practicality with ergonomic comfort and aesthetic refinement. The design's sophisticated geometry is based on a 105-degree intersecting angle that promotes optimal posture and natural seating position. The chair incorporates advanced materials, including a viscoelastic memory foam cushion upholstered in perforated leather, which provides superior breathability and adaptability to various body types. Its technical features include a 360-degree swivel base with a locking tilt mechanism, ball-bearing casters available in steel or rubber for versatile mobility, and a cylindrical gas lift for height adjustment. Measuring 558.8mm x 732.5mm x 1062.28mm, the chair represents a thoughtful balance between form and function, with rounded corner angles that soften its visual appearance while maintaining structural integrity. The design has been recognized for its excellence, receiving the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its contribution to innovative office furniture design.
