Pool House Residential is an innovative architectural extension project that exemplifies minimalist design principles through its sculptural form and shell-based construction methodology. Conceived as a harmonious addition to an existing residence, this 4,500-square-foot structure seamlessly integrates multiple functional spaces including a home theater, lounge, pool area, changing room, gymnasium, and two luxury suites complete with dressers and toilets. The design, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, draws inspiration from the concept of a pebble in the grass, manifesting as a natural protrusion from the landscape rather than adhering to conventional construction paradigms. The structure employs a revolutionary shell-based construction system, eliminating the need for traditional beams and columns, instead utilizing a singular wrapping shell in concrete. The building's distinctive features include polished concrete flooring, in-situ terrazzo finishing in the bathrooms, and masterfully integrated wooden elements. The technical innovation is particularly evident in its 8.5-ton inclined RCC wall construction and the development of freestanding wooden door frames within curved sections. The project, completed between April 2012 and January 2015 in New Delhi, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its minimalist execution, where every functional element is either concealed or seamlessly integrated into the design. The structure's relationship with its environment is carefully considered, with the pool house perched to overlook the surrounding greenery, while its softened edges and calculated tilt create a natural blend with the landscape.
