PomPom Children's Clothes Store

PomPom Children's clothes Store is an innovative retail interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial planning and contemporary architectural solutions for children's fashion retail environments. The design, conceived and executed by Portuguese architect Albertina Oliveira, masterfully transforms a challenging 50.50-square-meter space into a harmonious retail environment through thoughtful geometric interventions and strategic use of color. The store's distinctive feature is its ingeniously inclined ceiling, which emerged as a creative solution to accommodate a prominent structural beam that initially posed a spatial challenge. This architectural element is transformed into an aesthetic advantage through the integration of suspended metal lighting structures that illuminate the central display area. The interior design employs a predominantly neutral color palette punctuated by strategic bursts of bold colors to define distinct functional zones, including the service counter, dressing rooms, and seating areas. The space utilizes economical yet refined materials, including lacquered MDF furniture, plasterboard walls and ceiling treatments, and self-leveling flooring, demonstrating a pragmatic approach to achieving high-end aesthetic results. The design's success in creating a fluid, spacious atmosphere that effectively showcases children's clothing earned it the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its excellence in retail space innovation and functional design solutions. The project, completed in June 2013 in Mercado Bom Sucesso, Porto, Portugal, represents a significant achievement in commercial interior architecture, particularly in its ability to transform spatial constraints into design opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on product presentation and customer experience.
