Pokermate Deluxe Poker With Holder

Pokermate Deluxe Poker With Holder

Pokermate Deluxe Poker with Holder is an innovative universal design playing card system that combines ergonomic considerations with aesthetic refinement, specifically developed to enhance the card-playing experience for older adults and multi-generational families. This thoughtfully crafted design, created by Dr. Alex King, features playing cards printed on premium smooth paper that requires minimal effort to shuffle, addressing the reduced sensory abilities often experienced by elderly users. The design incorporates enlarged sans-serif typography and graphics positioned at the upper left and lower right corners, ensuring optimal readability for players with varying visual capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this design is its accompanying wooden holder, crafted from solid beech and walnut, which introduces an innovative dimension to traditional card games. The holder's organic, inclined profile serves multiple functions: it provides card privacy, reduces hand fatigue, and creates designated slots for card placement. The design's black border enhancement on the reverse side of each card delivers superior visual contrast, while simplified signature graphics facilitate easier card recognition. This universal design approach, which emerged from extensive participatory research with elderly users in Hong Kong, represents a significant advancement in inclusive gaming solutions. The project, which took twelve months to complete, demonstrates exceptional attention to user needs and manufacturing considerations, ultimately earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design category, acknowledging its contribution to inclusive design and social innovation.
