Pocheon G House

Pocheon G House

Pocheon G House is a significant architectural renovation project in Pocheon, Korea, that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of old and new design elements through thoughtful spatial transformation. This residential redesign, completed in 2013 by architect Seuk Hoon Kim, involved the innovative conversion of an abandoned 23-year-old duplex into a unified living space that masterfully balances preservation and modernization. The project's distinctive approach to interior architecture is characterized by its sophisticated use of white wall divisions, carefully calibrated to human scale and daily activities, creating a canvas-like environment that seamlessly integrates with the resident's lifestyle. The design methodology employed advanced computational tools, including Rhino3D and Rhino scripting, to develop a sophisticated facade louver system that responds to interior spatial functions and user behaviors. Measuring 16,700 mm x 8,140 mm x 2,400 mm, the house showcases a meticulous attention to detail in its storage solutions and spatial composition, with particular emphasis on the interplay between existing masonry walls and new architectural elements. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in adaptive reuse through its innovative treatment of space, thoughtful material selection, and integration of contemporary design solutions within a pre-existing structural framework.
