Pluto Task Lamp
Pluto Task Lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies the convergence of astronomical inspiration and functional design, created by Brazilian designer Heitor Lobo Campos. This sophisticated task lamp features a distinctive aerodynamic cylindrical form orbited by an elegant handle positioned above an angled tripod base, drawing direct inspiration from telescope aesthetics while paradoxically focusing its illumination earthward rather than skyward. The design's most notable technical achievement lies in its manufacturing process, utilizing advanced 3D printing technology with eco-friendly corn-based PLA plastics, representing a significant advancement in sustainable industrial production methods. Standing at 317.5 mm in height with a depth of 254 mm and width of 247.65 mm, the lamp incorporates a high-performance 9W A19 LED bulb delivering 800 lumens with a superior color rendering index of 90+, ensuring optimal illumination for detailed tasks. The lamp's sophisticated engineering is evident in its precision-focused light output and innovative construction, which required careful consideration of component assembly to optimize the 3D printing process. Particularly suited for office, study, or bedroom environments, it offers user-centric features including a dimmable on-cord switch for customizable lighting control. The design's exceptional merit was recognized with a Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2020, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to sustainable design innovation and functional aesthetics. The lamp's development, spanning from March 2018 to January 2019, demonstrates a meticulous attention to detail in solving complex design challenges while maintaining an elegant, minimalist aesthetic that serves both form and function.
