PlUsminus Lighting

plUsminus Lighting is an innovative modular lighting system designed by Taras Zheltyshev that revolutionizes the conventional approach to interior illumination through its uniquely adaptable and customizable design. This versatile luminaire system, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, consists of interconnected segments measuring 500x50x50 millimeters, each crafted from a sophisticated combination of glass, copper, and bronze materials. The system's fundamental architecture comprises a base unit that can be mounted on floors, walls, or ceilings, with individual segments connected through an ingenious clamp-joint mechanism that enables multi-directional positioning. Each segment features a distinctive castle-shaped cross-section assembled from three glass strips, incorporating copper rods along its length and equipped with two 3W diodes for illumination. The design's exceptional versatility allows users to create various lighting configurations, from bar counter illumination to chandeliers, work lamps, or decorative installations, making it particularly suitable for both residential spaces and commercial environments such as shops, salons, restaurants, and exhibition spaces. The innovative hinge mechanism serves multiple functions, combining mechanical fastening with current transmission while maintaining complete electrical safety through isolated pathways. The rectangular geometry of the segments not only contributes to the system's structural integrity but also facilitates efficient packaging and transportation, while the thoughtful integration of functional elements such as light-reflecting slots and reinforcing components ensures both practical utility and aesthetic appeal.
