Plaster Trowels
A plaster trowel is a handheld tool used by plasterers to apply and shape plaster onto a surface. The trowel consists of a flat, rectangular blade made of stainless steel or other durable materials, attached to a handle. The blade is typically flexible to allow for smooth application of the plaster onto walls, ceilings, or other surfaces. The handle is designed to fit comfortably in the hand and provide a secure grip for the user. Plaster trowels come in a range of sizes and shapes to accommodate different types of plastering jobs. Smaller trowels are used for intricate work, such as applying plaster to corners and edges, while larger trowels are used for covering larger areas. Some trowels have a rounded edge, allowing for a smooth finish, while others have a pointed edge for more precise work. To use a plaster trowel, the plasterer first applies the plaster to the surface using a hawk or other tool. The trowel is then used to spread the plaster evenly across the surface, using a sweeping motion. The plasterer may use different techniques to achieve the desired finish, such as using a circular motion or a feathering technique to smooth out any bumps or ridges. Proper maintenance of plaster trowels is important to ensure their longevity and effectiveness. After use, the trowel should be cleaned thoroughly to remove any plaster residue, and then dried to prevent rusting. Some plasterers also apply a thin layer of oil to the blade to prevent rust and keep it in good condition.
