PLANTS TRADE Concept Book And Poster

PLANTS TRADE Concept Book and Poster is an innovative artistic publication and visual communication project that reimagines the presentation of botanical specimens through contemporary design sensibilities. Created by Japanese designer Tsuyoshi Omori, this sophisticated work comprises a hardcover concept book measuring 105 x 190 mm with 52 pages and an accompanying poster sized 505 x 728 mm, both crafted to establish a more meaningful connection between humans and nature. The concept book, deliberately sized to match the dimensions of the actual botanical specimens, features a distinctive white cardboard cover enhanced with foil printing, while its interior showcases five nature photographs through offset printing and fourteen unique graphics produced via letterpress printing. This meticulous attention to printing techniques allows each graphic to exhibit subtle variations in color and texture, mimicking the natural diversity found in plant life. The project transcends traditional botanical documentation by incorporating artistic interpretations inspired by nature's inherent wisdom, creating a bridge between scientific documentation and artistic expression. The work's innovative approach to presenting botanical specimens earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, acknowledging its contribution to advancing the boundaries of visual communication design. The project, launched in Tokyo in 2017, has been exhibited at various prestigious venues including the Tokyo Art Book Fair, demonstrating its significance in both the design and artistic communities. The combination of multiple printing techniques, including foil, offset, and letterpress, creates a multi-layered sensory experience that elevates the traditional concept of botanical documentation to an artistic exploration of humanity's relationship with nature.
