Plant-Based Plastic
Plant-Based Plastic is a material made from renewable sources like corn, sugarcane, or cellulose, and it can be designed to break down more easily in natural environments. In the context of eco materials, designers can use plant-based plastic to create products that help reduce the use of fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions. Some types of plant-based plastic can be composted at home or in industrial facilities, which means they can return to the soil as nutrients. Designers can shape, mold, and color plant-based plastics using many of the same methods as traditional plastics, making them a flexible choice for sustainable product development. Recent advances allow plant-based plastics to be used in 3D printing, giving designers new ways to make prototypes and finished products with less impact on the environment.
