Place Public Facility
Place Public Facility is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of contemporary architectural elements with natural components, created by designer Millton Yu. This 350-square-meter public space installation, completed in January 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan, represents a sophisticated interpretation of spatial design through its distinctive use of metal construction, transparency, and light manipulation. The design's primary concept revolves around creating an immersive experience where visitors can observe and be observed through an intricate arrangement of white metal bars, glass panels, and reflective surfaces, encouraging a deeper contemplation of spatial relationships and object permanence. The facility incorporates several noteworthy features, including a thoughtfully designed waterscape at the entrance that seamlessly integrates metal and stone materials while accommodating organic plant growth, symbolizing the coexistence of artificial and natural elements. The project's architectural innovation extends to its functional solutions, such as a radially paved wooden platform that addresses drainage challenges while maintaining aesthetic coherence. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully combines elements of traditional bathhouse architecture with contemporary design language, featuring a white steel ladder connecting the courtyard to a verdant rooftop terrace. This sophisticated integration of sci-fi aesthetics with practical functionality demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its 106-square-meter interior space, creating an environment that encourages both social interaction and personal reflection.
