Performance Modeling
Performance Modeling is a way to predict how a building will behave before it is built, using simple digital tools to test things like temperature, light, and airflow. In Building Science, designers use performance modeling to see how design choices affect comfort and energy use. For example, changing the size or position of windows in a digital model can show how much sunlight will enter a room during different times of the year. Designers can use this information to make buildings that stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter, which helps save energy and keeps people comfortable. Performance modeling can even help spot places where air might get stuck or where moisture could build up, which helps prevent problems before construction starts.
